Let’s look at some keys to exercising your Spiritual Authority.  YES, that’s right, you have Spiritual Authority the moment you receive Jesus as your Savior.  

 

You see it’s not about you, it’s about who lives in you.  It’s HIS Authority and HE’s given us permission to use it.   The book of Ephesians talks more about the Authority we have through Jesus than any other Epistle written to the churches in the New Testament.

 

It’s vital you know you have Authority over the defeated one. 

It’s vital you know the defeated one is already defeated.  Jesus did that for you on Calvary. 

 

We don’t have to defeat him, we just have to use the Authority Jesus has given us to remind him he’s already defeated.

 

If you don’t get anything else from this teaching I pray you get this one thing…….

 

WE DON’T HAVE TO DEFEAT THE DEVIL, WE JUST HAVE TO USE THE AUTHORITY JESUS HAS GIVEN US TO REMIND HIM HE’S ALREADY DEFEATED.

 

The defeated one doesn’t want you to know about the Authority you have as a believer.  He knows if you take hold of that truth then he’s in trouble.   As long as you continue to believe you have no Authority over the defeated one he will keep you in lack and poverty.  He will keep you sick, your mind confused and your emotions a mess. 

 

The defeated one comes to lie to you.  He gets you to hate yourself because you messed up too much.  He tells you no one wants you.  You aren’t loveable.  You’re damaged goods.  You’ve messed up too many times and God won’t forgive you.  He tells you the promises of God are for everyone but you.

 

Have you ever heard those lies before???  I have!!!!!

That’s not GOD and that’s not you thinking those thoughts.   They’re lies from the defeated one so you won’t stand up and use the Authority to remind him he is defeated.   

 

The only way the defeated one can defeat you is if you believe the lies he tells you.   When you know the Word of GOD you can stand up and remind the defeated one who’s in charge of your life. 

 

Remind him that John 8:44 says,  The Devil Is A Liar And The Father Of Lies--there Is No Truth In Him.   

 

Remind him who he is and who you are in Jesus.  He has no power over your Authority.

 

Remind him that 1 John 4:4 says, ……Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

 

Isaiah  59:19 When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

 

When you try to fight him in your power you lose every time.  When you use the Authority in Jesus name you win every time. 

 

LUKE 10:17-19

“And the seventy returned again with joy saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.  And He said unto them, I beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven.  Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy:  And nothing shall by any means hurt you.

 

If the Word of GOD says it, it’s the truth and we can walk in it knowing it’s the truth.  Just knowing it isn’t enough to bring results.  It’s only when we act on the knowledge we have that it brings the results.

 

That’s where exercising our Spiritual Authority comes in.   Again, exercise means to put into action.   Knowing you have the Authority and not using it we stay defeated. 

 

The truth of it is we don’t use our Spiritual Authority and walk in victory because our spirits are weak.  We MUST have a strong spirit. 

 

We don’t see many churches today walking in Spiritual Authority.  We see them accepting the defeated one’s lies. 

 

We see churches entertaining people with big lights, big singers, big programs but their people go home every week the same way they came. 

 

They have no clue they can live victoriously by exercising their Spiritual Authority. They don’t know they don’t have to be sick or live in lack and poverty. 

The church has ceased from being the light in a dark world.  We can’t tell the church from the world. 

 

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

 

Many have removed the armor of God piece by piece and now stand defenseless against their enemy.  They stand open to the fiery darts of the defeated one that Ephesians 6:16 talks about (Ephesians 6:16 ….wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.)

 

I can hear Jesus saying to the church….

 

Behold I give you power and Authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.   Luke 10:19

 

Isaiah 54:17  No weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that rises against you in judgement thou shalt condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. 

 

I hear Jesus saying in 2 Corinthians 10:3-8 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.  Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

 

He’s telling you in His Word that He has given you Authority.

 

Ephesians 6:10  Tell us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  That means we can step in front of the defeated one, hold up your hands and tell him to stop and he must obey because the full weight of heaven is behind us. 

 

As long as the defeated one can lie to you and make you believe there is nothing you can do about him, you will lose every battle.  But if you believe the truth of God’s Word and exercise your spiritual Authority through Jesus He remains defeated in your life. 

 

In John 14:13-14 Jesus said, “And whatsoever Ye shall ask in my name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If ye shall ask anything in my Name I will do it.

 

Mark 16:17-18 tells us what we can do in Jesus Name which is where our Spiritual Authority comes from.

 

It says….. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

 

When we lay hands on the sick, or cast out demons, or speak in tongues we are exercising our Spiritual authority in Jesus Name.

 

We are reminding the defeated one who he is and that he’s already defeated.

 

James 4:7 SAYS “Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee.  Flee means to run from as if in terror. 

 

Do you mean the devil runs in terror from us?    YES!!!!   When we exercise our Spiritual Authority in Jesus Name the defeated one runs in terror. 

 

Don’t be on the defensive with the defeated one, be on the offense. Don’t wait for him to attack you.   Every morning when you get up remind him that he is defeated in every area of your life.   

 

Put him in his place!!  

 

He has no right to invade your territory!!

 

Take back what he’s stolen from you!!

 

It’s like using mosquito spray.  You don’t wait till you’ve already been bit to use the repellent.  You spray the repellent on you to prevent the bites. 

 

So, get up every morning and exercise your Spiritual Authority and remind the defeated one that he’s already defeated before he comes to remind you what you did in the past and how you should feel about it.
